Hello guys i just bought my first car, a 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4 Door Sport with a seized 4.0
The body and engine has 233xxx on it . i picked it up for 900$
im buying a motor next week and swaping. Bought it from a dude that said he it ran like 4 months ago . Then he drove it into his shop and try starting it again and it locked up .

First thing I would do is Un-sieze the 4.0.

i took out all the Spark plugs and this is what i found lol

Im guessing you blew a piston and thats what smashed the ceramic. A few of the plugs on my non running 1994 ZJ looked similar...

Me too . I'm thinking that water or another substance is in the motor because I went to drain some oil out of it the other day and a gallon of water then a gallon of antifreeze came out before any oil did.

Looks like a pretty clean rig! Changing the motor would be a good time to change the motor mounts, water pump, radiator hoses, ect.

Why did you put an older dash that doesn't have a tachometer in? Other than that your rig looks clean and a good start for a built rig! I agree with above that you should also change out the motor mounts and all those other parts in thee engine bay that are critical.

Hey guys . The motor mounts look good and I bought New hoses water pump thermostat wires cap roster spark plugs all that stuff . Spend 250 for all new stuff for my motor . The engine should be in by Tuesday . I will upload so more photos then . And when i uploaded the first pictures it looked like I took out a new Tec and put an old one in but the photos uploading wrong order

Yesterday He got it running, now needs to go do emissions. Also we both helped our other brother with getting and installing a new passenger door but hes lazy and doesnt bother with a thread lol

Hey people , I k.ow it has been a while buy I have been drving her all summer and fall , no problems at all , took her offroading a couple times and took her on a bunch of trips all summer long , recent.news , I did an oil chande and what not , did a front break job , pads, rotors , calbipers, I put on all new shocks , I top all the liquids off every week , just did a colant flush and got some new green stuff in there , pretwction to Like -35 degrees so that all good , I got a 2 much bb lift , rough country shakles and coil spacers , looks good , just to help clear snow for.the winter and my 2-3 shift.solenoid went out , I have been having to 'shift ' my jeep even know its an auto but I picked up new ones , ordering a new tranny filter and.fluids along side.with the gasket for when I put the new shift selinoids later this week , anyways ill try and get some pictures up loaded soon , time to keep up on this forum now haha
