My Cherokee Challenger plan

Let my start off by saying, my first car was an '01 cherokee sport...I loved it. But when I turned 21, I traded her in for a new '09 JK.

So I bet you're wondering why I have the word "challenger" in the title? That's because I have a plan to trade in the wrangler to put towards a brand new 2013 dodge challenger R/T...but it would not be my DD.

So, here is where you XJ guys come in...I need to know the BEST model year the cherokee had...I mean, least issues..all I know was the late models had cracked head issues...what about the 90's cherokees? What are some specific things I should look for? Known issues, etc.

I want to buy an XJ and sell my Wrangler private party. Dealer offered 15k for it but I want more. Thanks guys.

99. Search, this has been covered thousands of times and multiple times on the first page of this section alone.

97-99 model years. 99 was the last of the best years. As stated it has been coverd MANY times. So, that is your startung point, good luck and welcome back to the dark side.

I would stay away from a 97 if you are looking for perfect rig. Many mismatched parts between the pre97 and 97+. 99 is considered the best since it has the upgraded intake but that's all it has over a 98.
