Keeping it close to stock is where I started... and there is nothing wrong with that! If you are going to do that, stick to 30" AT tires IMHO and a smaller lift, like a 2" OME or the like. Either that or you will need to look at 3.5" and some good bumpstop work to get 31" AT's on there without trimming your bumper end caps or ripping them up (from my experience).
Either way, Jeep XJ's are great fun.

[QUOTE=Jeremylerv;10322059]Well i just turned 16 a few months ago and a few of my friends had cherokees so i thought why not. i have done a few things to it like paint the wheels black and put ski racks on the top but nothing major. i was wanting to put a 3 inch lift with 31s but now im thinking about a 4.5 on 33.. talk big, go bigger. and i also drive 15 minutes to school going 70mph so i still want it to drive good and get decent mileage if i could. so tell me what you think.

Tell you what I think? I think you should be paying attention in English class instead of wasting my hard-earned taxpayer dollars that fund your public education. Your sentence structure, punctuation and capitalization is horrendous. Almost unintelligible.
Next, no need to inform us that youre 16. Nothing screams "I'M SIXTEEN!" better than spray-painted black rims and tinted turn signals.
Finally, find out if they have a D.A.R.E. program in your high school, because you must identify what you have been smoking to think that you are going to get a decent ride and decent MPG in a lifted Jeep Cherokee driving 70 MPH on "33 inch tires.
You asked, and that's what I think.

That's pretty harsh dude. To each his own. We were all new the Jeep scene once upon a time.

There is no need for you in this thread. He is welcome to do what ever he would like to do with his jeep. My wheels are black does that screem I'm a teenager. There is no need for you to be so harsh.
Also my Jeep is currently lifted 5 inches with stock gearing on 32's and I get 20mpg highway. So you need to breath and think before you explode like that in someones thread.
Good luck with the build man.

Yeah, I have 7inches of lift with 33's, stock gears, a full size spare, 200 lbs of tools in the back and get 17 city, 21 highway. Even when I had my 35's on I was getting about 17 highway and idk city. Reguardless I was getting very good gas mileage. I am a "teen" as I am only 19. I painted my own rims- see thread in XJ non-tech ""Revived 398 Cragars"" Does this make me a teenager as well?
