It's done for now. I'm out if time since I'm going wheeling this weekend.

But all the 1/4" mounting brackets are welded on and the shape is finished. The plate is secure but there are still about 10 more holes to drill and tap but I need to pick up some more countersunk bolts.

and I need to pull it back off and trim some of the aluminum backing plate just to clean it up.


But minus some bolts this is the finished skid. I really like the way the uhmv can smoothly conform to the uneven frame rail

I got a 6'x3' stainless steel table from KFC. I'm gonna try to do the skids with the material.

Did you order that UHMV sheet locally or online? I am going to see if I can get it cheap through my vendor but $50 sounds pretty reasonable.

Just make sure bracing is strong enough and the material is thick enough to survive

Ordered from mcmastercarr online. Took like a day to get here

Ya, I think you're right. But, as far as what I need them for, it's mostly protection from flying debris. That table is heavy, I'm not too keen on the idea of adding all that weight.
