My 92 XJ

I also posted in the intro forum, but after doing a little looking around I think it might go better in here...

-4.0HO
-CAI
-Aftermarket ignition/plug wires
-22lb injectors
-93oct Jet Chip
-Warn 8k lb winch and bumper
-4.5in BDS long arm kit
-31x10.5in Duratracs
-D Windows
-D30 front, 8.25in rear, open 3.55's for now

It's got a couple of other things that I can't remember off the top of my head, but I have receipts for all the parts and work done to it by the PO. It all seems to be done correctly so far as I can tell and it runs like a champ. It's a base model, vinyl seats that don't recline (those will be getting replaced ASAP), no tilt/cruise, manual windows/locks etc, with just 93k miles!

Plans so far are a rear bumper/tire carrier setup (been looking at Smittybilt), have the header installed that came with it and while I'm in there replacing the Flowmaster muffler that's dumped before the axle with something quieter so I can hear myself think while I drive in town, some kind of LSD or autolocker in the rear, rock sliders, a roof basket with aux lighting, HIDs, and smoked corners/tails.

Haven't had a chance to explore too much but I imagine I'll be around here pretty often, looks like alot of good info here!

Couple of pics:

Any recommendations on rear bumper/tire carriers and LSD/lockers?

It's all good man, haha. I'm the same as you, new and just looking around.

Did some looking today and found out the front bumper is actually a C-Rok bumper and not a Warn like the PO said it was.

VERY sharp 92. One day ill pick up a 91-94 for a daily driver. One thing, I would not wrap your header. It will get wet and cause it to rust out pretty quick. And do your self a favor and save up for a quality rear bumper. Youll miss those vinyl seats when it starts to get dirty!

Thanks!

The header hasn't been installed yet, and probably won't be for a pretty good while, so I can always take the wrap off, thanks for the tip! I don't think I'll miss the vinyl seats one bit, haha. One day of just riding around without a cover on it and my back was like Niagra falls, haha. I'm going to keep an eye out for a good deal on some Cherokee Limited or Grand Cherokee seats on CL or at my local scrapyards.

Any recommendation for a good rear bumper/spare carrier setup?

Someone said I should make a build thread, so I suppose I'll just make this one into my "already built thread" since I've yet to actually do anything to it myself other than put over 3k miles on it in the month and a half I've had it.

I'll throw up some more pics for now, anyway.

I already listed my plans in the first post. I'll post up any progress I make in here. I probably won't get a chance to do much until I get my Yukon back on the road.

Whoever built that Jeep did it right, those are some good quality parts.

Any problems with that steering setup? Looks like Rugged Ridge. I've heard it has really bad tie rod roll when letting off the gas and creates a "dead" feeling with the steering. I don't have any personal experience with it though.

Agreed! That setup makes mine look ghetto rigged!

If its Rugged Ridge steering, its ghetto rigged. I wouldn't run that steering on a Jeep even if it never left the pavement.

What makes you say that? PO had it installed when I bought it. I haven't had any issues or complaints so far.

What would be a good alternative?

I had it on my TJ, I didn't like it. With that setup, there is just too much roll in the tie rod, even with the spacers. You may like it, and it may work well for you. I will never run it again, though. I run the IRO steering and besides not having it alligned yet, it feels way more responsive, even more than stock.

Thanks guys, I love it so far.

I haven't had any issues with the steering in the 3 or 4 thousand miles I've put on it so far. This thing steers like a go-kart compared to my 93 Yukon with 140k on the original front end parts .
