Sorry to hear man, depending on if it was owned by family or a club you may have a chunk of change coming to you. I'm in the same boat but hit a deer, next up grade is going to be a ABR Bumper for sure, wish you luck man

Its looking like its more than likely owned by an Amish family up the road. No one has came by to pick it up yet. Also I GOT THE JEEP HOME TODAY! I have been taking pics and did as much work as I could to assess the damage. Let the pictures tell the story.

As you may see there is little damage done to the engine, to the best of my abilities currently. Shes buttoned up for now, and low and behold one of my close friends knows of someone that getting rid of a 97 XJ for $600. Currently its in the shop getting repaired but 100% driveable. I am going to try my best to take a look at it tomorrow, and if at all possible buy it!

If its too plain then it can be made better ( Modify )!!!!!

doesn't look THAT bad. Pick up that one for $600, use parts off of yours and then keep the rest as spares and you're set.

Looks like a Heep now but you wont believe it, IT HAS LIFE!!! I called up a salvage yard and was talking to the owner, he will be making lots of money from me from now on! He said to cut the belt and try to start it. I was in disbelief due to the condition of the front end.... so I charged the battery and slapped it in there, first time START! Second time START! All I wanted to do was to hear it start, since the engine has no radiator. Now its time to take off the bad and do the nasty work... true and plumb... What should I do, could I do, or then again what can I get away with if I don't want to get all the front end body parts?

OK tranny works from Park to Neutral, the brakes work, and I can't see any reason why the there's anything wrong with the Drivetrain at all due to all of this. There are no oil leaks, or tranny leaks, and the engine sounds sound.... but there's lots of body work to be done. OH I'M SO JOYOUS!!!!!

Its been a long time but I finally started to buy parts for my Jeep. I seen on Craigslist a parts Jeep but he didn't keep it around. I managed to get 2 sets of hoods and front fenders, both brake light, radiators, alternator, starter, tentioner pulley with bracket, and both door mirrors. Once I get the radiators back in place I will be moving it back up to the house so that I commence more work... Time to call the Salvage yard to find out if we can work out a deal!

That's incredible. I can't believe a horse did that much damage, you must've been booking pretty good...and I can't believe you kept it and it's coming back! Most people would have totalled a $400 Jeep at that point! Props for sticking with it, keep the updates coming!

I looked at it like this, it runs check, it drives check, the ts works check, and it still stops check...... Looks are another thing but personally its work the experience of rebuilding it. For the past two days including today I have put $182 into parts which is a bonus so far; that's the above post and what I got today. Today I picked up a/c compressor mount, alternator plate, thermostat housing, battery tray, hood prop, and lots of hopeful wishing! After inspecting the powersteering pump it appears to be in working order, so no need to replace that. I may go back to get the a/c compressor.... $35 doesn't seam to be all that bad and looks very clean especially from a 91 model. To me it looks like it was replaced in the past couple of years but I just don't know if it works.

Tomorrow I will be going into town to pick up the thermostat housing gasket and a hose tool..... thingy (not sure what to call it but it releases springs that holds hoses to pipes.) When we get back, depending on weather, I will start the build.

If its too plain then it can be made better ( Modify )!!!!!
