Round 2: Oh BTW: I have been looking at http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum//showthread.php?t=2781 I found this while doing some searching here on the forum. So far its been straight forward compared to e-Hows 4 line write up.

koolaid5: Thanks for the heads up, I will be doing this as well.

RoamFreely: It may be rough but it does run and drive very well, trans is in great condition and there is no knock. I haven't even replaced the beaten up tires. All in all this was an excellent buy in my opinion.

Me too, would like to meet up! Well today I didn't do much of any work till I got back home around 3pm. I went out and looked at the bolts/nuts and decided to go once again back out and actually buy a 9/16" rattle wrench.. Sears was the only place that had them, separate, but I paid $20 for only one...ouch! Too bad I didn't have enough money and I would have bought a whole set from Walmart for $38, but anyways I am glade I did. I started to work on it around 8pm... kids are in bed... and now I am down to the last bolt/nut. I need to take off the crossmember to get access to the last bolt. I have jacks holding the transmission and the TC up. I take a few pics now since I am taking a break.

After taking a few pics I cant seem to find my cable... Damn-it. But good news I have the old tc off and slid out from under the jeep, now time to finish taking off the front drive shaft and take somemore pics with a different camera, of course after I make a quick meal for the family. You will be shocked to see what the condition of the old TC is in, Im shocked that I was still driving on it!

Ok another hicup, I need to get a 5/16" wrench so that I can remove the front drive shaft off of the old TC. I am trying a modified 5/16" socket and a pair of channel locks as well as visegrips and cant seem to break them free. It looks like another trip to see if I can buy another wrench!

My first try to modify the 5/16" socket came from a screwdriver bit set, I then hacked off about 1/4" from the part that you insert into the drill, and that was it. Thats when I called it quits and decided that I needed to buy one, well then I went back to the drawing board and did somemore modifying. I ended up cutting 1/8" off each side of the shaft, this is what I ended up with:

To my surprise I got one loose and out! Yessss it worked, so I thought. I went on to the second bolt... Damn it broke! So once again back to the drawing board. I ended up with this:

YESSSSSS all are out and now I have the driveshaft on the replacement TC and bolted up! Onward I shall go!

Ok break time and I have the replacement TC up and in place, I have 5 bolts/nuts on and somewhat tight, the 6th is half way in, then my light blew... good time to take a break. I will have the replacement installed tonight still and a test drive soon after. Gosh.... I can't wait to get this done!

A few days ago I modified the heating tube that runs under the center console that delivers heat to the rear seat. There's a slight difference in length and how it attaches to the heater blower unit, this is what I had done.

Yesterday, I started to work on the 98 AC/Heater Control, I have all of the vacuum lines figured out and attached, but having a little difficulty doing this. All of the lines are attached and it switches with out any problems. By the end of the night I was working on the electrical switch (fan speed) and blew 2 fuses. So that was the end of it and called it a night. When I came back in, I did some more research and figured out my problem but I was too tired and night. So now I am working on attaching the cable that controls the temp, but I need to get this part:

Where can I get this part, what is it called just the part? The 98 one that I have had a pot attached that controlled the temp but I need this manual one. This image came from a 97XJ pdj pg 712, any ideas?

Edit: I got my answer its part number 55037426AA I found it on eBay Now to dig for that separate part, tomorrow the salvage yard will be visited!
