Thanks guys!

Gave her a bath last week to get her ready to go wheeling but something came up and I couldn't go. But there is always next time.

Having trouble with vibrations and grinding noises lately. Opened up the front differential to only find nothing. But I did notice that I had a lot of play between the ring and pinion. Backlash is probably way to much. But its weird because I had never previously opened the diff nor had I messed with the gears and never had a problem until about a month ago. If it continues I will have to disassemble the front again and wait till I get gears and a locker to put everything back in to have 4wd. Really wish my jeep didn't have these problems until I have the time. College is starting to get hefty on my time and dead week is approaching. But it is what it is.

I saw one kinda like it, but it had the antenna on the side, and the antenna folded the length of the Jeep instead of the width (behind). Same mounting location though. Have any pics of the mounting? I think I want to do this for my Jeep.

The mount you might be seeing, the one that goes to the side, goes being the taillight and uses the tail light bolts to hold it on. I almost went that route but I wheel in tight places and it would get ripped off. This mount is mounted to the hatch and faces out back. It's bent to go around the taillight and contour to the hatch. I use a folding mechanism thingy, not sure what it's called, to have it fold down. The are some pics of it here on my build.

Yeah, I saw the pics of the mount, but not how it actually mounts to the Jeep. I am thinking...maybe a folding type mount mounted to the rear hatch hinge? Ideally though, I think I want it mounted to my roof rack (I think). My antenna is very stiff so don't want to break it or my Jeep with low hanging obstacles. At some point, I'd REALLY like to get like a 15' whip and tie it to my front bumper when not wheeling...one with a tennis ball on it

But I DID find a door jamb mount that swivels so I might try something like this:

Mine is just a piece of steel. It has self tapers going into the hatch. Mine is a fiber glass 4' and it doesn't bend really at all. The best spot to run an antenna is dead center on the roof. I put mine where it is because its not too open where I wheel and wanted it low profile. There also isn't a good place to mount it on my roof. And putting it right there made it easy to tune. I have a 1.1 SWR on channel 1 and 1.2 on 40. Never heard of a 15' CB antenna. That is nearly a half wave, a real half wave would be 18' and would get some ridiculous reception but you would need a radio that has a good enough wattage to get that. And you can only have a certain amount before needed a permit. 102" whips are common and work great. I just never really liked the whips.

Hey muddy, I had crazy grinding/vibration issues,I thought the same thing being the axles! But I finally tie it down one day putting on a trans drop kit, and found that a trans mount bolt wiggled loose and was causing crazy noises! Not sure is your issue wanted too share mine, I chased it down for months! It's easy to check and could save you time.I also cleaned the bolts and lock tite, so those suckers wouldn't come loose again! Btw rig is looking sick now! I'm really considering those iro long arms. How's the ride now with la's and bills?

Good suggestion, I'll look at it. It is starting to get pretty annoying and scaring me a bit. The thing is, it really started after I put the Baja Claws on and not sure if its from the claws being so aggressive. Will have to further investigate this weekend.

The ride is phenomenal with the Bilsteins and long arms. It was pretty good when i had the front sway bar on. Took the sway bar off and started driving around without it and it now drives better than ever. Definitely more body roll but it rides very smooth. I am very glad I went with this set up over getting cheaper shocks. I would even go out and say that it rides better than my sisters new 2014 WK2. No where near the same road manners but the way it absorbs the bumps is just ridiculous. At highway speeds, 50+, I barely feel any bumps in the road, and I'm sure you know how Oklahoma highways are, lol. Overall, the Bilsteins go great with my soft suspension. RC coils and OME leafs are very soft and make my ride very, very good.

So you get good reception with the antenna where it is? I went wheeling once in my XJ early this year and I kept losing reception with the lead rigs, maybe a mile in front. Maybe I need to tune the antenna? Btw, it's currently a magnet mount, probably 4' fiberglass antenna like yours, and the magnet is NOT that strong. Luckily, I put it through the center hole in my roof mounted spare so I wouldn't lose it.

For what I use the CB for, ya I get good reception. I only use it for trailing and convoying. I have tested it at 2 miles and still got good reception. Nothing compared to my buddy's rig that has a whip but it gets the job done for what I wanted it for.

2 miles wheeling, or 2 miles in open spaces? I think i still want a whip antenna though...might just have to bite the bullet on it.

Not wheeling. Tested at same elevation through trees and hills.
