Looks like a good turnout too, I havent been to an event that size in over a year, Im jelly.
Yeah - that's what I really love about wheelin the WK. Drive it out - wheel the snot out of it - drive it home. Most no one would have a clue what you can do with these Jeeps.

But it was great to do the same with the XJ for a change. Makes it that much more impressive IMO.
The turnout was good. I've been to events at that park that are bigger but I think the heat was a factor.

Interesting. That might be doable for me. Dunno just yet.

Got everything set-up for a trip tomorrow. Bunch of us from the KCJC are headed to KS Rocks for a day of trail clean-up and wheelin.

I introduced the blue Jeep to its new chariot today:

Finally, found a sweet deal on a trailer on Craigslist that would do everything I need it for.

^^^ It really is perfect for my particular set-up.

16' x 77" deck, tandem 3500lb axles - brakes on both w/ breakaway.

My XJ fits on it with plenty room to adjust for proper tongue weight.

The blue Jeep got a good workout today after we finished our adopt-a-trail clean up at KSRocks. Had a good group to wheel with today with a good variety of rigs.

Took my youngest brother - it was his birthday yesterday - we traded off driving and riding shotgun/taking pics:

Got some carnage on the passenger rockers just under the Bpost:

Really thinking the 2x6 rockers are gonna be sooner than later in this build.

.........but..........priorities..........

My radiator pin-holed/cracked, what ever ya wanna call it, and sprayed into the rad fan and threw anti-freeze all over the engine compartment. Radiator's done, toast.

I'm re-thinking the ZJ fan clutch after today. I'd read on NAXJA that this fan clutch can get into the radiator in extreme flex conditions. I thought no way could that happen. Well, today I'm pretty convinced that is exactly what happened.

Gonna have to replace the radiator. While I'm at it I plan to swap in a new water pump, t-stat, hoses, etc. Basically a whole new cooling system. In addition, I plan to finally install a fan shroud.

Looks like a great time!!

Glad to see Im not the only one lately thats had the trails demand a heavier duty rocker replacement. Im still slacking on that progress though.

As for ZJ fan clutch, that was one of the first mods I had planned on til I wheeled with no overheating issue. Further research and hands on measuring talked me out of it, it would really surprise you how much the ol sixxer bangs around in there on OE mounts. A busted radiator is probably the most frustrating failure to end a trail day. I run a factory fan clutch and have my OE aux fan wired to a switch inside. I just keep it on full time during wheeling and never overheat.

The good thing about regular wheeling trips is that it brings out the weaknesses of a build. Ive not had a single trip this year that Ive drove home without already planning out something needing improvement. Maybe thats the Jeep thing?

^^^ The good thing for me is I've already welded in the "base" for a rocker replacement with the my chassis stiffeners. I have a feeling the 2x6 project will be just that - a project.

As for the ZJ fan clutch - I was thinking of modding the oe clutch to lock and swapping it back in - but I hadn't considered wiring a switch to the aux fan. That's a good idea.

You're right about wheelin bringing out the week points of your rig. I mean, these things can do some crazy $h!t - just ask anybody you take wheelin for the first time but I think everytime I go I'm like you - "what can/should I do next?"

For a while now I've been kicking around this idea:

It was a toss up for me between the Brown Dogs motor mounts and the ones from IronMan 4x4. I ended up with the Ironman 4x4's and really like them.

Im due some motormounts myself. Have u considered going with rubber or poly bushings? Im on the fence between the two. I want a firm, noticeable feel but Im worried poly may be too much. I ran poly mounts on a Mustang in the past and performance wise was one of my favorite mods. Really tightened the car up, so much so that the whole ****ing dash vibrated at idle. It was a little obnoxious lol.

Seeing how the Jeep is really geared more toward a fun toy thats DD-able I may just go poly anyway. I dont mind to sacrifice a little extra vibration to tighten the rig up, but I just dont want it to be obnoxious. Perhaps I should do some more research. I do know on the Pony car the pro's of poly were great. When u hit the gas the car MOVED. Before that mod it was like I could feel the motor move first then it caught. With the type of loads the Jeep sees I could imagine stiffer mounts would be of great benefit.

Thanks for that link - awesome products! I'd never heard of these guys before. I'll probably go with BrownDog for MMs but I REALLY like IronMan's relocation brackets and adjustable shackles!

Most likely just go with the poly - a little cheaper and definitely stronger than what's in there. I think the rubber is more for a true daily driver.

I did come across this review:
