Question if you dont mind real fast!... I asked about the Tranny mount a little while back and I got around to replacing it, well my jeep is a 1996 and I ask for a 1996 trans mount, well the one I removed from the JEEP had the 4 bolts a little off center of the mount, the new one looks to be centered and that it would not work without drilling some new holes into my crossmember, so my question is should I modify the one that I got supposedly for a 1996 xj, or should I get the "correct" off centered one? thanks let me know if this makes 0 sense, ill try and explain a little better.

If it's me, I paid for the right part - I want it in my hands. I didn't pay for an OEM bolt in part that I need to modify $h!t to make work.

In other words, you probably could drill new bolt holes in your crossmember, but why?

^^^ You bet, bud.

BTW - don't over torque the four trans mount nuts to the crossmember.

^^^ Sounds good - it's just that the shank of the bolts coming down from the mount aren't very substantial. As long as you didn't snap the bolt off you should be fine.

I recently snapped off one of the four studs for the trans mount using a torque wrench. Its best to use a 13mm socket on a 3/8" ratchet to get them snug, dont over do it. Come back after a few hundred miles and check them again, get them relatively tight, dont over do it.

ok ill rememeber that tomorrow when I go and get the new part, I have a lady who hooks me up through her work, like bumper to bumper warehouse or something like that. cost me a whopping 11 bucks for the mount, I also grabbed a few moog ujoints for 6 bucks each for the shafts, she tends to give me wrong parts here and there, lol but she makes it right and hooks me up so cant complain.

hey another question, I see that you said that mount that is off center if for a 99+?? so mine is a 1996 why would it have a off center piece? or am I reading your post wrong from when you did that. she is saying she gave me the correct part so im starting to think maybe someone swapped trannys or something in this jeep not sure. but I need a off center mount what year has the off center?

^^^ The old mount I took off was centered (my XJ is a '01). The centered mount does not match the belly pan I have. I needed an offcentered tranny mount to match the hole locations on the belly pan. The '99 OEM trans mount for the I6/AW4 is offcentered.
