Now, all the cooling system was replaced a couple weeks back: radiator, water pump, t-stat, radiator hoses, fan clutch, rad cap, coolant, added a fan shroud - everything. Even pulled the heater core send/return hoses and ******d the crap outta them to clean all the gunk out. All the appropriate hoses get warm as it idles to operating temp. No overheating issues, even when I wheeled it last; efan kicks on appropriately. Wipe out the filler neck; check for any debris that might be fouling up the cap seal. Checked that the overflow tube isn't clogged and the reservoir, as well the nipple at the filler neck. It's not necessarily consistent either. It's got me kinda baffled. Only thing I can think of is the new rad cap is bad right outta the gate. I bent the ear tabs on the cap in to get it to seat tighter and ran it up - seemed to fix it.......... for now. Dunno...........
I had some similar quirky problems before I switched back to a good OE style cap. The cap plays a pretty big role in the overall function of the cooling system, sounds like youve got all the bases covered though. Quite possible you got a cap that didnt run down as tight as it should out of the box.

So whats next on your to do list? My builds been slow going lately, Id like to live vicariously through someone with likeminded goals.

Yeah, I dunno what to think about that radiator cap at this point. I ran it up again a few hours later, after everything had cooled down. Idled it up to temp and again no issues - so who knows. It's fixed........it's not fixed......?

As far as my to do list? Honestly, it's rather endless: 2x6 rockers, brake overhaul, steering (beefier tie-rod; TREs), sye (full or HnT haven't decided) front u-joints & ball joints, gears, front locker, shackle relocation boxes, rear bumper, winch (which would entail reworking the stinger hoop on the front bumper), rework my cb coax and antenna mount set-up, monstaline or bedline the interior, zj seats, and on and on and...............not necessarily in that order but you get the idea.

In all likelyhood my next move will be rewiring an inline fuse for my cb power.
I know I know....exciting big time building there.....but I really gotta get moving on redoing our master bath...........

the honey do list is starting to weigh heavy on my decisions.

According to the Google - I'd be lookin at 3,524.2 miles to Anchorage. Just under 60 hours drive time. I bet that last .2 miles would get me........

Not to mention, I'd be in for at least 2 oil changes for the round trip............

Gotcha.

One thing's for certain..........a meet up like that would put my to do list over the top because my brain would explode after seeing everybody rigs, mods, and upgrades in person.
