I thought you were talking about the 21st of May?

Anyway -

Got to take the blue Jeep out since swapping the rear glass and installing the stiffnahz.

Good times. Very sloppy........bt spotty slop. Bone dry in some areas.............slimy in the rest.

First we played around in the South 40 trails:

Bad pic but with less grease under the tires this is an awesome step up:

On the approach through Carnage Canyon:

and my cousin's RZR 800 (embarassingly capable )

.....and this climb out of Carnage is pretty much where the winching started:

There's a short run called Bear Tracks - one way, great articulation, creekbed type trail. My brother was driving:

"This is AWESOME!!!," he said. I could reach out the passenger window and touch ground easily:

It was a fun day of wheelin, getting stuck, getting unstuck.

We wheeled around good that day but my phone maxed out it's memory card so no more pics.

But.................

Lee - smallest rig in the bunch? The last part of the day we hooked up with another guy from our club. He was running a stock, open/open/ YJ on 31" road tires - wheeled the $h!t out of it. And hey - that RZR did everything the TJ and I couldn't.

Just sayin

Been quite a while since posting anything on this build because, well, it's been quite a while since I've done anything with the blue Jeep.

But we took the red Jeep to Colorado just a week and a half ago for 4 days of wheelin in the trails coming out of Montezuma (Keystone area). So with it on stand-by in the garage the XJ's been detailed to some dd'ing.

The other evening I discovered an electrical gremlin in the driverside parking lights. After swapping bulbs and some tinkering I realized everytime I pull the light knob the 10amp fuse for the front parking/tail lights blows. Brake light works, turn signals work. I really don't know that I feel like trying to track down where it's shorting out so I figure I'll just try not to drive at night.

Well after tearing this Godforsaken Jeep to pieces I finally figured out why I was blowing the 10amp fuse for the driver parking lights.

The wiring loom that passes through the left side upper rear hatch was a hornet's nest of split wires, cracked sheaths, broken wires, etc, etc.

Not sure how I had anything electrical working at all within that area. In fact, not sure how it didn't catch fire. That crap was probably sparking and arching up a storm inside the rubber boot.

Got it all rewired and buttoned up today. No more popping fuses and I now have a functional 3rd brake light! :-)

The blue Jeep got a shot at wheelin yesterday and since it was kind of last minute I figured I'd give driving it to the park a go. Up to now I have dollied it everywhere I've wheeled it but I didn't have the chance to borrow one so driving it was the only way. This marks the furthest I've driven it since owning it - about 90 miles drive south to Kansas Rocks offroad park. It was hot yesterday - mid 90's - so I thought I might have issues with it overheating while wheelin after driving to the park, or driving home after wheelin all day in the hot sun. I have to say the XJ did great - never got much over 210*. Is it a bit squirrely on the highway - yes. Still, I was pretty glad not to have any issues and we had a great day in the trails.

I did not get any pics on the trails myself as I did all the driving and I took a buddy of mine that had never been wheelin so his cherry got popped real good. He was quite impressed with the whole scene and what these rigs can do. I did grab a couple pics though and today I cleaned it up nice - cleanest it's been in months:

Looks like a good time! Isnt it rewarding to drive it to the spot, beat on it then hop back on the highway with all the normal people?

Looks like a good turnout too, I havent been to an event that size in over a year, Im jelly.
