It was definately a good day of fun. There were a good handfull of other XJs out there. One broke a D30 shaft and another stripped the teeth off his D30 ring gear. So - my "vented window" was but a scratch in comparison.

Still - been looking at swapping in a sheet of lexan - but the $h!t seems to be most common in 48" width. The bottom width of the window opening is ~52".

I'm thinking to myself, "did he grow a beard?" "It still doesn't look quite like him." That xj looks great on the trails, quality pictures as usual. Sorry about the hatch, at least you can chuckle about it in years to come. I went wheelin Saturday and my friend backed into a tree with his xj, messed up his hatch pretty good and shattered the glass. Let me know if you end up getting a new hatch or find a few laying around, my friend is on the look out. Take care.

You can get big sheets of it and then just cut it yourself. That's what we do at school when we use lexan

Any ideas on what you may replace it with? I can handle dent carnage, but glass sucks.

1998 Grand Cherokee Limited; 5.2 L, 249

Help: Rear left lock doesn't lock using power locks, but will unlock. Any ideas?

Not gonna replace the entire hatch - it isn't damaged to that point by any means. Just the window.

^^^Thought about that. But in the end I decided I'm not putting something back in it that will break again.

too bad the late model XJ rear windows are urethaned in. Mine is easy as hell to pop in and out - just pull the gasket and done.

Old stuff in the window lip cleaned/scraped out, sanded, primed, light sanding again, rattlecan black enamel.

When you first said you were going to put lexan or something similar in I thought no way in hell will you be able to make that look good. Now you've got me re-thinking that Any thoughts yet on how you'll retain it?

Do you mean hold the fake glass in or retain the stock look?
