Wow that was a total fail on my part. $95 seems pricey but it really makes a huge difference..just make sure you don't wait too long. If you crack the frame there, it's a lot more than $95 to get it fixed. This would be the first mod I would make on ANY XJ - even a totally stock one.

hmm......Kris I wonder if this is my popping problem. I was sure it was the TRE joint on the track bar, but now I'm second guessing it. I'll have to wash the jeep and take a good hard look for cracks or stress lines after work.....

I had a popping problem for ages. Turned out to be loose bolts on the track bar bracket the first time (No matter how tight - broke several 1/2" grade 8 bolts trying to get it "tight enough" - ended up welding the track bar bracket to the frame).

The second time, the bolts for the steering box were 'loose'. I say 'loose' because they were tight, but really need to be reefed. Just don't bust 'em.

Make sure all those bolts are tight... track bar (frame and axle end) and steering box.

Cool, thanks Carl. I know when I make it pop, you can feel it if you have your hand on the bracket joint on the trackbar, so I figured that joint was bad. Looks like I have some further investigating to do.

ok let my list off stuff off from the top of my head.
clutch is going out can shift up but have to stop to shift down lol
trans sounds like a can of rocks, its 5speed and havent found another one like it
saving for a new clutch kits.wanna get something heavy duty lol and rebuild the trans.
painted the black panel and nose to red color match * should have put more coats*
it sat for months.

I traded my 03 cbr954rr for a 95 lexus sc300 with the works lol i do miss the bike but it was expensive to fix
still trying to sell the stupid grand cherokee
looking for a ford 8.8 with 410's
saving up for that
and for 33's and rims
i got hurt so now i have hospital bills LOL damn
haley sold her jeep so i scored her front skid plate and my old 3inch lift back
tore apart the dash to replace the air box, new heater core, wiring, plugs, & face plate.
the guy that owned the jeep b4 me ductaped the airbox and glued it together lol i threw it away
had to rewire old wires into new wires for the plugs on the heater controls so all the wires are random colors lol
put most everything back together.
took a bunch of pictures..
radio went out
speakers are fried
still saving money lol
pics to come tomorrow

I would replace the trans with the same AX-15. If is my understanding that the OEM type clutch is the best because it is dual friction and allows more slip than, say, a centerforce. In our application, we want a little bit softer clutch, and you'll find that a stock clutch works perfectly once you have the correct gearing.

How did you get hurt? Did you buy new tires yet?

Edit: Haley, how is the new truck?
