Getting rid of a Toyota truck is a happy day!
Hah bump for ya -- I'd recommend craig's list. I used to check every craig's list within a few states of me, particularly if you're willing to travel! It took me a few months to find the right onw, but I'm on a 20-mile wide island, so you should have some better luck than I - good luck! |

The top 3 reasons:
4 doors allows easier access for passengers and cargo. The shorter doors are lighter and have fewer door pin issues. The bodies are stronger on the 4 door due to the additional pillar on each side.

_trucker if its a solid truck id drive 350 or 400 miles. And 2dr is just my preference.. I think they look a little more rugged, idk just my 2 cents

Let's face it, 2-doors are sexier 4-doors are a dime a dozen - a good 2-door will make you look twice Because I've owned 3 2-doors, and have never had a bar-pin issue, and my body is just fine ![]() |

Strings, where about in PA do you live? I just put a search into Kiladelphia and got some good results: philadelphia cars & trucks - by owner classifieds "jeep cherokee -(grand)" - craigslist
The -(grand) part makes it ignore Jeep Grand Cherokees.

A note about two door XJ's.
Dog's (well my dogs) don't like the two door layout. It only gives them one an a half windows to hang out of. Nothing like sitting at a light when the person next to you looks over and sees a German Sheppard with a set of arms playing air drums to "In the air of the night. From Phil Collins" and to hear her LOLing over the song. Plus my pack (of eight) really don't like getting in through the doors. They either use my seat as a paw wipe getting in or sit at the hatch. Giving me that "Well you have the thumbs, use them to open the door" look. Buzz.

The XJ is a solid choice for a wheeling machine. The 4 door is more versatile but not nearly as cool as the more rare 2 door models. I like the later models, 97 and up due to the beefier axles and the steel liftgate. The 4.0 motor is excellent and can be modified with a stroker kit to be a real screamer at 4.6 or 4.7 liters. There are lots of performance mods and tons of spare parts at reasonable cost. Shop carefully and avoid rust and front end collision vehicles. I bought one just South of Hagerstown, Maryland about two years ago and I love it. Good luck.

I personally would look for a 91+, just so you dont have to deal with the crappy cooling system like I did. Hold out and look for a 2 door like I did.
