Just bought a Cherokee

A few hours ago I agreed to buy a 98 Cherokee for a grand. I am picking it up tomorrow! It is for the GF so I wont be driving it much. The ad said that it had 160000 miles and I got there checked the odometer and saw it only had 121000! It is an inline 6 auto green with tan interior. Now I wont feel like an idiot when posting on the Cherokee forum!

No I am not going to get rid of the TJ

I think it had the 35, but not 100% positive. The bottom was flat, but it had the rubber drain plug like my 35. When I get it home what is the best way to tell?

WOW So I told her it would get terrible milage and when the guy said it gets 12-14 she was not so happy and now is already complaining about it! With a tune up what can I expect to get for mpg on stock 30's? (I don't care she does)

30's arent stock, 225/75/15 are, so that could be some of the loss in MPG. I am sure you would pick up some with a full tune up. Dude must have had a heavy foot, maybe the GF will do better.
For reference with my tire/gear combo I get 15-16 city(if I dont drive like an Ahole) and 20-21 at reasonable speeds freeway, and probably about 3 on the trails

Sorry I was assuming 30's where stock like my wrangler. I was going to bring one of my old ones to put on it (it has the donut on it) but this could be bad if I went ahead and just threw my 30 on there. I would go check my old ones just to be sure, but it is raining and the light is in the jeep.

A 30 would be slightly over sized, but not nearly as bad a ratio as the donut. Its not locked so it should be fine until you get a proper replacement tire.

Thanks would it be best to put 2 30's on the back? I have 5 I take it it has a 19 gallon tank like the jeep? I plan on illegally attaching plates to drive the thing home and have her follow me. I hope she likes this thing. I appreciate the warm welcome from all one person lol

Hell go 30's all around those should have been stock in the first place... probably doesnt matter much in the rear unless its for a extended period of time, same as a donut.
20 gallon tank on the XJ...
If she doesnt like it now, lift it and take her wheeling! Then you will love it

Well I found out my tires where the stock size and not 30's like I thought. I got the jeep home yesterday and hope to have it on the road Monday. On the way home with the illegally attached plates I was at a light about a mile away. It was a one lane straight one lane turn only I was in the straight lane. Light turns idiot in the turn only lane driving a Mercedes goes straight and starts coming into my lane I flip him off and he gets behind me. I pull into the driveway and they guy stops right at the end of the driveway. (It was straight from the light to the driveway so I did not know I was being followed) He is on his phone when I get down there and I wait he hangs up and puts down the window and starts saying in a heavy european accent "you wanna **** me? he kept saying that as I stayed very polite. He said I have your plates now we will see who ****s who and drives away. What an idiot I did nothing wrong and he got that mad if I was legal I would of torn him a new one!
