just bought a 01 xj. exhaust? intake?

Greetings,

im new to this forum. just purchased my first jeep last week. love it so far. its completely stock as of now.

im no tech head i just like to drive the thing, but i would like make sure im getting the most out of my motor before i lift it and put bigger tires on it.

its got 99k miles. im going for longevity, power and efficiency (if there is such a thing)

was wondering if anyone had any exhaust/intake systems that they would recommend for increased power and efficiency.

one of my friends recommended a programmer,.. any one know about those things, cause i don't.

thanks

2001 stock xj 4x4
dark red/maroon
99k miles

Welcome to the forum. Take some time to page back in history and read the older JeepForum threads, nearly every possible Cherokee question has been asked and answered.

Look for threads on boring the Throttle Body to 60 mm and there are tons of exhaust threads about cat-back exhaust systems.

Performance Chips and Tuner boxes don't work on the Jeep 4.0L, you get much better results from old school modifications: cat-back exhaust, bored Throttle Body and K&N style air filter.

Have fun reading
