Junkyard sound system?

I have a pretty large and cheap junkyard and not a ton of cash, eventually I'll buy really nice speakers and a 12" sub or 2 but for now I would like to know what cars had speakers that will fit in a xj and sound better then stock. I know some cars and suvs like the Lexus es300 and some explorers have decent subs. So does anyone have any input on this? Has anyone done this or looked into it? I know stock speakers in most cares are anything but amazing compared to aftermarket but anythings better then these Cherokee stock paper speakers lol

Speakers are literally $3 each good, bad, broken, amazing aftermarket speakers it doesn't matter they are all $3 so if I can get some decent sound out of my xj for a month or 2 it would be worth $12........... Definitely better then listening to 1 good speaker and 2 blown (what's in my xj now)

Junk Yards are great! I was able to fit 6 1/2 in. Speakers all around without modifying the stock mounts.
Also it's very common for the grounds in the front doors to disconnect in the rubber boot between the door and the jam.
Check the ground, your front speakers might be OK

Ok i gotcha. My thing is is that if this was a common mod or popular thing to do, i think it would be all over the forum and others. I have never heard of anyone doing this, but im sure its possible and somewhere there are some good upgrades but i dont know. I guess search for cars with what people consider good sound systems and see if you can make that work in your XJ

I always thought of pulling some Infinity Gold speakers out of a WJ and tossing them in my 92, the ones I currently have suck pretty bad. Not sure if they will fit and haven’t been able to find out a whole lot of information on it.

I'm cheap and not going to spend $200 on a sound system, I'm not that into music. Let me know what you find.

I have my best luck just looking in other XJ's. My 91 has a full set of kenwood speakers and my 01 has all blaupunkt's. All of them were pulled from junked XJ's. I never walk passed one in the JY without checking behind the door panels and overhead rear sound bar. I wouldn't waste time trying to wire factory subs from another make or model, that can be a real headache. I got both 10 in subs and their amps off ebay cheap.

junk yard speakers are the only speakers I buy, I've found some nice alpines, Kenwood, Sony. All for dirt cheap. I can't justify spending loot on speakers especially in a jeep that gets wheeled. I bought one set of brand new speakers once, after they get wet guess what they don't work.

90 - xj laredo- 4.5" rough country lift, 6.5" of total lift with drop brackets, zj disc brakes on c8.25, olympic winch bumper, jcr upper and lower quarter armor, IRO hack-n-tap and rock sliders and rear bumper. rugged ridge 8500lb winch. Spartan locker up front. With a jd yellow paint job, 97+ front end and bushwacker cut out flares. 35's

Junk yards tend to pull any good audio equipment prior to setting out cars and anything they don't pull gets ruined by wild life and weather in my experience. Best bet would be craigslist, there's usually people selling good audio equipment for way less than what it costs new.
