I think youve got me talked into it, dang peer pressure.

Wife and I had a talk about build plans, explained the tire size Im after and some mods needed along the way. I also explained that while my 31s still have good tread, I can pick up 35s and recoup some of that by selling the 31s on craigslist. Surprisingly, she was kinda cool with it, borderline excited ha. Ill be ordering IRO's HnT sye within the week and put in some hard OT at work over the next couple weeks, hopefully that will add up to enough to make the UPS guy lug 4 large tires to my doorstep.

And ibjeepin, sorry for the hijack. Just figured Id get a good opinion from you and all the others who commented. Ill allow you to take your thread back now.

UPS guy? How much are you looking at paying for shipping and where do you plan on getting them from? Just a thought. . . I got my 35" MTZ's from Walmart, which was the cheapest place I found them at and no shipping charge if you order online and pick them up in the store. Just a thought. . .

I didnt think about Walmart, wasnt aware they had much selection. Ill look into that.

As of right now TireRack has an 80 dollar rebate on MTR/K's, i could get 4 of those in 35" flavor for about 930 shipped. Still not totally sure what tire I wanna run at this point, I just figure the MTR/K's hybrid tread will have decent tread life. Ive ran two sets of KM2's in the past (33x10.5) and loved them but may try something different. Really wanna stay under a grand and if I could slip down into the 850 range even better.

$930 is decent. Does that include shipping? Walmart was $1060 + $63.60 tax and $3.20 MD environmental tax. . . Whatever that is. Total = $1126.80 and then I'm mounting them myself and attempting to balance with airsoft pellets. We'll see how that goes. I also talked to a guy that balanced his 38" TSL's with a few ounces of transmission fluid and said it worked great, so I'll go that route if the airsoft pellets don't do the trick.

Yes thats 930 shipped after rebate. I checked Walmarts site and the no shipping cost is a plus but they seemed to have higher prices compared to tire rack even with me paying to ship.

Ive had good luck with TireRack in the past all around, so Ill likely stick with them but at thise point the $$ is the big thing. Its amazing how vastly different certain distributors want for the same tire.

Part of me is wanting to take the easy way out and go 33s but the dominant part keeps telling me how boring that would be lol. I wish I knew someone that would let me test fit their 35s so i can see how it drives first.

That may be the case, but tire rack doesn't sell Mickey Thompsons and I wanted MTZ's.

True, I hadnt considered that. Those MTZ's are a good looking tire, I may have to consider those as well.

Eh, MTR's with kevlar are pretty sexy too and people seem to like them. I thought about going that route, but ended up going with what I have personal experience with.

Yea, Ive always wanted a set of MTR/K's but I was too busy drinking the BFG koolaid back when I bought my last set of tires and hadnt really considered them. That and I wanted 33x10.5 so that ruled them out anyway.

**** the koolaid. From my recent tire research most people just preach that whatever they have is the best. Most likely because that is what they know. I won't talk **** about other tires, but I will talk up MTZ's, because that's all I've had on my XJ and I really limke them.

Lol oh yea I see a lot of the "this is the best because I have it" talk. Im staying open minded at this point, and trying to stick to my 1000 price point. I can get 4 Cooper STT mud terrains for 980 shipped in 35's. I hear a lot of good things about those as well.

Most of the tires Ive considered are all of good quality and I dont think I could go wrong with either one. I will likely go with MTR/K's though mainly because they are a rarity in my area, and while aesthetics may not mean much, they just look badass lol. I just hope I can get the money together in the next couple weeks so I can pick up something and begin the sheetmetal surgery.

In all seriousness, my Pro Comps have been good to me. They are fairly cheap, and they have been abused. I've played in a lot of sharp rocks and they haven't cut yet. They often run a buy 3 get one free deal. Just throwing that out there lol.
