My friend Robbie's 2000 WJ. Took him about 10 days to build start to finish and thats only working on it evenings after work. 4 link front and rear. Full Hydro Steering. 7.17 gears. 1 Tons. 129" wheelbase. His winch is center mounted in the belly pan. It has a quick disconnect thimble so he can run it out front or rear any time he wants to.

Robbie is an animal in this thing. He jumps it every trip out. It really rips.

I finally got around to installing some rock rails on my beater. hahahaha. Just kidding. They are just tube steps. I bought them for $50 and whacked them up so they would fit with my big tires. They were in perfect condition and fit nice with just a little welding. They are about 36" up from the ground to the step.

Now my wife can get in and out a little easier. She still thinks she wants a stirrup on her side but for now I'm holding off. LOL

I also finished trimming my front fenders at the front.

I've been wheeling the heck out of my Jeep this past few weeks. I was rolling with the big boys most of the time and we found lots of super deep mud holes and plenty of winching.

Decided it was time to do a little upgrade on my battery and cables. My old battery was fine but it would struggle under a big load after about 1 minute of pulling. I did a bit of research and decided to skip right over the Optima and get a good battery.

X2 Power AMG from Batteries Plus. 880 CCA and 134 minutes of reserve capacity. It uses virgin pure lead and AMG construction. I got the model with top and marine posts so I could add additional cabling without cluttering up the top posts.

I put a new #4 ground terminal from the battery to the block and added another #4 grounding cable from the battery directly to the winch. In addition to that I have the winch grounded directly to the chassis. I also have an additional #4 grounding cable from the battery to the chassis.

I added a #4 charging wire directly from the alternator to the battery. I used the existing #0 power cable from the battery to the winch that I installed last year. Also a hold over from last year is the #2 power wire to the accessory plug on the bumper. The original power wire from the battery to the starter and alternator was in perfect condition so I reused that one.

To some this might be overkill but it's very easy to overlook power and grounds when carrying the very large loads demanded by a winch. Where we go I just can't afford to have an issue.

Those are entry level Walker Evans Emulsion shocks. They are filled with nitrogen and shock oil mixed together to provide dampening. They are bolt on shocks W/E offers for TJ, XJ and JK guys. Available in about any length needed.

They are adjustable by varying the nitrogen pressure and the oil volume. And of course you can revalve them as needed to change the dampening.

I will try to get some pictures of the center mounted winch next time I wheel with Robbie.

Haha. Not sure what that means. If you mean get it lower to the ground thats not really possible without lots of changes. 45" tires don't fit under an XJ very well without hacking it all up. I would have to relocate the battery and airbox to get any lower up front.
