HRDCORXJ's 98' "sleeper" build

I decided that my 04' lj was a bit too much for just wanting to go for mild day trips, and i really enjoyed my 97' xj for the ability to go everywhere in comfort. So i went on the look for another clean lightly abused xj and came across this 98' which some may recognize from 4wdandsport utility magazine. http://www.4wdandsportutility.com/te...kee/index.html

it had several issues ive had to address
front unit bearings and u joints
rear axle seals
electric fan
disgusting carpet (previous owner had pets)
tires needed replacing
window trim missing
Heater core leak
swaybar links broken

as of now

have added
magnaflow exhaust
33 10.5 all terrains

i am about to tackle the heater core which i am not looking forward to. i have the interior completely gutted and have spent all weekend fixing its issues and doing routine maintenance in preperation for a upcoming moab trip (thursday) ill try to keep this updated i have many plans for this jeep.

pounded pinch seam over to clear tires. partially trimmed the fenders so i could drive it. i am going to retain stock flares with custom mounting brackets.

pics next to my "tired" 97 i was orignally going to pull the bumpers off my 97 and use them but i now have new bumper ideas. i want to run a spare tire on the rear and i also have a 9000lb winch i want to mount up front.

jeep worked impressively in moab. got my heater core and interior reinstalled about 430am friday morning and left for moab at 6am. ended up adjusting control arms out 1/2" for tire clearance which in return also improved ride quality. jeep died after returning to camp friday evening and wouldnt restart. gauges didnt function properly and motor would turn over and not fire. ended up being faulty CPS which was simple (yet expensive).

very clean xj MCObray, took xj wheeling up af canyon last night.... i need to get sliders on ASAP. i came too close to the rockers for comfort. then this evening i ran up to some local mnt trails with some narrow shelf roads and alot of brush. gave the jeep a nice coat of rocky mountain pinstriping. but on the bright side it did brush all the mud from the previous nights adventure off.

Nice! I wish I could access trails around my area like that. I'd have to drive like 50-75 miles to go out and play... legally.

X2 on the sliders for some piece of mind while wheeling.. I put those on top of my list and I actually received them as a present for my birthday. I highly suggest looking into AJ's line of Rock Sliders. I ended up going with the Super Rock Rails... they look the best IMO.
