One thing's for sure, it's not a $1k job. Is this the article you were referring to: Power Steering Pump Replacement - 1 ?

I'd still like a little more input about running without the power steering pump working. Has anyone done it or am I crazy for even considering driving at highway speed?
ive done it in cars.its kinda hard when you are moving but from a stop it sucks

hit it with a hammer

Wrong. Miles driven/gallons used. The size of the tank is irrelevant.

Completely stock, and keeping it that way...

I feel left out as i came equipped with the amc 2.5L(in my opinion much better than iron duke of later) Distance wise its been around the world 10.5 times(only reason for swapping is the availability of parts). Not to derail the 4.0L thought but my yj was never driven by PO. 92 with 134K

84 xj 350tbi, sm465, 203/205, 60/70. links and other junk.
what size sawzall blades does it take to fit 40's?

Just bought my 90 XJ two weeks ago with 177K miles on it. I know jack s#$t about cars, and actually this is my first car! Can you believe that? Always lived in major metropolis' so had no need...anyway, I did loads of research in advance - everyone says the same thing: inline 6's are bulletproof etc. etc. and Jeep's rule...plus, it just looks awesome, the shape and everything...I know nothing but the thing seems to be in awesome condition...as in everything works! Even the little bulb in the glove box (even the lock on the glove box)...and interior is in awesome condition, seriously...the engine looks good I guess? I took it to two mechanics for thorough exams before buying and they both said there was nothing wrong with it apart from some minor issues which the used car place fixed...guess we'll have to wait and see! I love it...it's really fun to drive and is classic looking to my eyes...everything is stock as far as I can tell.
