I have a question, how noisy is your high mileage engines?
My 4.0 with 260K is noisy at startup, esp when it's cold. Once it starts to warm up, it's pretty quiet (for a Jeep).

Mine is kinda strange at 230k, I can hear all the pushrods and rockers moving around in there, not bad just obvious. And some rattling down lower, but it has a tick that sounds exactly like a lifter. It ticks for 20 seconds then goes away like a switch is flipped, then 20 seconds later it comes back, etc. Not a gradual increase or decrease, just an on and off kinda thing,

Runs great tho

My 2000 has right at 126,000 on it. Only replaced the valvecover gasket, and going to replace the oil filter adapter o-rings soon. It has one lifter that will sometimes tick slightly when it is cold outside (below 30*) for a short time then goes away. Never does it in warmer weather.

Oh and about the 21 mpg thing..... I can get right at 20 mpg out of mine on the interstate.

Mine 96 XJ 5spd is about to roll over 229K! Runs like a champ minus the small valve cover gasket leak. It's an easy fix, that I am too lazy to do
