1. You DO NOT have a D44, they were never offered in an xj after 1989.

2. You have either an chrys. 8.25 or a D35.

Just because the later models didnt have a stock 44 doesn't mean he couldn't have one.

Theres a few guides with pics on how to tell in the stickied FAQ in the tech section.

It is pretty unlikely you'd have a 44.

well supposedly mine didn't come through with a stock 44 only it DID check on your vin number and see if it was a custom package. if so it is possible to have one stock if its an ex-service vehicle, at least mine did, ex-forest services VA. you'll more then likely have the rubber floors if its a services package. actually nevermind just noticed yours is WAYYYYYY to new for a 44

beware if the right wing extremists, you know who you are the self appointed moral compass of jeep forum.

Well, here's the one I pulled out of the JY last year. Looks a lot cleaner now, but you get the idea.

looked at the diff and found out that i have the 8.25. I read on the post about the axles that if you have the 8.25 the 2000 did not come with abs. When i bought my jeep they said that it did have abs. is this true about the 8.25 rear axle?

From what I've heard/know yes it's true. the 8.25 in the XJ's didn't have ABS

Easy ways to tell if you have ABS-
Kick the key on and look for the ABS light to light up
Open the hood and see if the brake lines from the master cylinder go into another complicated box with wires and stuff (technical talk, I know)
Slam on the brakes real fuggin hard and see if they lock up (do so while moving)

it snowed here the other day and i hit the brakes and locked them up. I kinda confused me i thought it had abs, but now that i know that i have the 8.25 i know that i dont. ^^^^^and the light doesnt light up. so therefore i dont have abs. that would have been nice to have. o well
