I was talking about actually opening up the black plastic 'screen' also... I would think your case would be really bad on pulling fumes and heat into the interior!

Good point though...

no fumes, no smell, AC works just as good, nothing has changed. Your saying take off that black screen attached to the cowl vent to get better airflow?
Thats like breathing through a chicken wire fence, wouldn't make a difference if it was there or not haha.

The right hand side of the XJ cowl "screen" or grille is solid, as in no holes. The drivers side is the vent and it draws air from the left to the right through an opening.

Just saying...

....But if you open up the mesh part on the passenger side of the cowl, then it will rain down the intake hole for the HVAC and leak water into the floor boards.

exactly, and what would you be acomplishing by removing the screen? reduce cowl area temps?

anywho....
When you put the long louvers (i.e. gen-rights) on your hood, they go over the "frame" of the hood correct? stupid question, but do you cut through it or not?

Got mine in. Run Cool medium sized, didn't hit any of the hood supports during the install.
