Here is my different idea for vents. Works well, heat just pours out and the placement removed any water issues...however the type of vent pretty much eliminates water entry as well.http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/pics-installed-different-type-vent-scoop-797403/

I had an 84 Daytona Turbo Z with the same vent. Great idea... I saw your thread before. I think I am going to look into one of those as I cant locate any Le Baron ones yet.

I thought we were talking about the fat chick too, not the rear engine car with vents in the front...

The LeBaron vents were my first choice, but like you, I couldn't find any at the local JY(not paying ebay/CL prices) when I saw this one it definitely screamed that it was of the same family, but was something off the beaten path, that and the thing is HUGE, and moves a lot of air.

Nothing to see here...

Instead of everyone cutting into the actual hood... and since hot air rises... what about venting into the passenger side of the cowl? You know... the spot where some guys run their airfilter to, when they dont wanna snorkle...
The underlying black mesh piece would be easy enough to open up, and you'd get funciton with OEM form.

Cuz vents look cool.
I ordered some runcool vents last week, don't care what they put them on in their ads. I didn't really wanna pay that much, but they are the best looking vents I could find. I wish GenRight made their vents bigger because they are much cheaper.

just put a 1" spacer between the hinge and the hood. ITs super cheap to do and zero cutting is required.

I have a 3" hole in my cowl where I plan to run my intake tube next week, It has been 90*+ here in portland, Or for the past week and I have not noticed any decrease in underhood temps. Heat rises just go with vents.

A few shots from this weekends wheelin trip:
![]() ![]() The hood vent worked perfectly, the few times we would stop to let people catch up, or to stop and spot every one, I looked at the hood vent to see how it was working, and I can see heat waves 2-3 ft off the hood. Never had an issue with heat soak the entire time(unheard of for me if it's remotely warm out). |
