Hood Vent Ideas.....I Need Em

I know I know...This has been covered a million times, but I have searched and didn't really find anything. I really love the lebaronhood vents, but im not paying 60 bucks for em and no salvage yards that are remotely close to me have them or any other kind of decent looking factory hood vents. I had a deck plate on my last Xj, but i really don't want to go that route again, So.....My question is, I need some ideas of some CHEAP vents that i can get that don't look ghetto....One guy i saw on here found some rectangular air vents that looked really nice that he found at walmart, but my walmart has nothing of the sort....So basically im looking for a cheap, decent, available solution to my hood vents needs.

I saw pix within the last month of an XJ with some cool looking hood scoops that were circular (2 of them) and he made them out of some plumbing pipe that he got from Home Depot. It sounds cheezy but it was a pretty sweet set up.

Chrome hood vents from a 68 Camaro Super Sport. That hasnt been done yet, and if you got chrome on your rig already, it would look tight as hell. Retro-muscle styled.....and functional. Factory looking.

$60 for lebaron vents is too much? I don't get why everyone on this site wants everything for super cheap all the time. In the world of cars, you gotta pay to play, so unless you can get some crappy $5 vents from Home Depot or something and make your rig look like trash, just buck up and pay a few bucks for the good stuff. If you look at the real hood vents and louvers out there for sale, most are $130 or more, so $60 is a steal for good quality Lebaron vents.

Why is it too much? Because if you are lucky enough to find them in the JY, they cost $12. Also because for 60 bucks, I can get a upgraded headlight harness, staun tire deflators, and so on. Also, if i can pay 20 bucks for something that does exactly what the 60 dollar hood vents can do, why not spend the extra 40 on something else? You gotta pay to play?....hmmm...we are talking about cutting 2 holes in your hood and placing vents over top of them. If you really want to get into it, then everyone that wanted hood vents, should take it to a shop and pay a couple hundred bucks and get their hoods louvered.....That would be the RIGHT way....

I remember the circle pipe vents the guy above is talkin about. I liked them. Cheap but effective.

You searched for Hood Vent Ideas in the Tech Forum? There are tons of ideas there.

I think you should go with two of these:

I smell spray paint and herculiner. College/High school budget build! Is that a budget boost I see? Yes those stock springs and shackles are sick, yo!.... No, cutting and soldering your LCA's is not reccommended. Pic request! Let's see your spray painted stock rims (center caps, tires, and valve stems)! Anyone here ever trim thier fenders with a claw hammer and a blow torch? I cant afford too many upgrades, so I was just looking into stickers for now. Can I just re-drill my stock track bar mount with 6.5 inches of lift?' cuz I dont wanna spend a lot on this lift. Write up! Welding your spider gears for those who cant afford a locker, and the great turning radius that results! How to: Tint your windows with a spray can..........

Precisely. I would much rather save up a few dollars and buy some nice looking vents than go to a boat shop and get two deck drains with threaded caps for my hood.

Here are some real hood louvers. You can get a nice set from GenRight for only $50.
