HELP! Im at a loss with my cherokee

just brought my "weak" battery to 3 different places to have it tested

they all said my battery is fine. about 70%

But here is the thing, my jeep leaves me stranded just about after every drive i make

and when i do get stranded, i cant jump start my jeep...it doesnt do anything

5-10 min later my jeep will start up like nothing happened

When i turn the key, it just clicks, as if my battery is 100% dead. but the lights are on inside, radio works, power windows work

help guys before i sell this thing off to someone looking for a project

Try putting it in nuetral then starting.. Sounds like bad connection or nuetral safety switch?

Check your terminals on the battery. Just move then around and try to make good contact with the post on the battery. More than likely the terminals are corroded and just need to be cleaned.

I second cleaning the terminals, I was having similar symptoms on my ZJ and all it ended up being was corrosion on the battery terminals and battery cables.

little review

clean battery cables and terminals

when i pull the battery out and re-install it, the jeep will start fine

if i leave it sit for about a hour, when i turn the key all I hear is "click, click" etc

as if my battery is 100% dead

A few weeks ago, my jeep would turn over but it wouldnt fire...thats when the shop started blaming my battery

now its sits dead in my garage, all the power windows work, radio works etc...

just hear click when i turn the key

cherokeeforum suggest bad starter, but when i pull the battery out and re-install it turns over like normal, no issues ever

totally lost as to where to go from here...

Put the key on the on position
Climb under and jump the starter with a screw driver

Does it still click or does it immediately fire up? If it fires up fine, probably ignition coil.

I would start checking the wires and cables to the battery and starter,I have seen it before the wires break down inside the housing and will work cold but put voltage through em for a few minutes to heat them up and they fail.
