im gonna steel your idea of tying the cage to the exo, its effen brilliant.

It's called a hybrid cage. People have only been building them like that for forever now...

made some tube doors awhile back as well
cut and notched ready for welding.

welded up.


matched for both sides.


added some rotary latches, 2 stage locking.

doors fitted up.

shackle relocation brackets

needed some shackle relocation brackets...so of course i had to build them

started with some cold plate, laid out all the bolt holes and drilled them out.

welded on the side plates.


thought i had some pics of the nut stirp inside the body..but i dont. its 3/8 2" wide plate, with 4 1/2 " grade 8 nuts welded to it. there is also a 2x2 .250 wall tube that fits into the stock shackle bolt location. once again, sorry, no pics of that either.




plates installed, looks like a good shackle angle, and adjustable.

cooling system upgrade?

when i bought the rig, the stock fan clutch was junk, and the fan shroud was missing, electric e fan had cracked mounts. so why replace, when you can upgrade right?

decided on a e fan upgrade all around.

started with some sheet aluminum.
marked out the fan locations, and cut them out.

made a simple jig for the plasma cutter.


ended up with this.




test fitted the fans befor i put it in the brake for the edges.


welded up the edges.


then tacked in some seperator plates to prevent "cross flow" of the fans.



test fitted the fans on the radiator. the original closed system had cracks in the tanks, so i upgrade to a newer open style radiator.


installed new radiator



added a auto fan relay with a late model t stat housing holding the thermo sensors, 2 fans click on auto and off auto, third fan sits in front of the trans cooler, and is manually controlled.

They are just cheap fans from Ebay,have no idea on the reliability of the fans,but there is 3 of them, and it's no daily driver. With that being said,I will see how well they hold up. I have used the fan controller in the past on my old,hot rod..held up for years till I sold it.

rebuilt the transfer case, te syncro rings were trashed, as well as the shift coller bushing. replaced all with new parts from quadratech.



no pics of the short shaft sye(you all have seen hundereds of them, but got a great deal on a built rar shaft from a local vendor.
