I filled up my VW golf yesterday for $3.89 at one local station but all of the others are at $3.95+...The people that I bought my XJ off of are filling up the 20 gallon tank for me before I pick her up and detailing it since they messed up the title and are making me wait till the end of this week till I can pick her up..I'll wait another week for some free gas anyday haha
Currently gas is $4.27 this morning, will go as the markets open up in a few hours. They will probably use some piss poor excuse like Osama Bin Laden is dead, prices will spike now. LoL. They always use some range of reasons to explain why we are paying more for fuel. I say make a cold air intake (CAI) and aluminized 2.25 cat back exhaust (CBE). For the exhaust, try Dynomax $150 with a $75 rebate from JEGS or Summit Racing. Save money and uncork the beast a little at the same time. Check your O2 sensor! First thing I did when I bought my XJ. It was original and had 120K on it, so I'm sure it wasn't exactly working at its best. In addition, I want to remove my clutch fan and replace it with an electric fan. Less work on the motor equals fuel savings. I already removed my roof rack and the wind doesn't bother the vehicle as much. I feel I accelerate easier too but maybe its all in my head. I could swear passing semi's on the highway doesn't rock my vehicle nearly as bad ether.
In the future, I plan on adding five air tabs (http://www.airtab.com/) to the top of the roof in between the black strips on the vehicle. I'm going to color match them to avoid it looking like crap. A shorter black antenna, hood vents, and at some point block up the vents up front with a thin sheets of aluminum on the inside of the grill. I will paint it black and plasma cut slits in the centers of where the grill is to allow some flow of air. I'm nerding out on aerodynamic efficiency for our bricks we call Jeeps. LoL. That and boredom lends itself to creativity while only spending less than a hundred bucks. I feel these mods, if they work at all, are far cheaper than buying a CAI, CBE, and a tuner.
Just my two cents but what do I know? In the meantime, I will always be dreaming of diesel...
