Factory fogs?

So i was looking at my front bumper, and I noticed that I have rubber plugs where I would expect the factory fogs to go. So I was thinking, if I could find a set of cheap factory fogs, would it be worth my time? Are they any good? or should I look into a set of LED lights to go there?

You would need the Factory Fog wiring harness and switch in order to run them, which are junk IMO. There is no relay to control the switch and they have a tendency to burn up.

You're better off running a switch inside the cab to a relay and directly wire the lights via the battery. Lots of good writeups on this.

I happen to have a set of factory fogs off my 98 if you're interested!

I never had factory fogs, so I would have to run the wires anyways to a switch. Just wondering if I should look at factory fogs, or an after market LED.

I don't want to spend a ton of money, as I know that in 2-3 years I'll be getting a bumper than can take a winch, but maybe an LED bar that spans the two? would that block my grill too much? that could transfer to a new bumper pretty easy I think.

would fogs from a 98 fit an 89?

Fogs on an 89 have a single bolt and mount above the bumper, like so:

fogs for a 98 mount on a bracket below the bumper using two bolts:

So no, 98 fogs won't fit on your 89. If you get good lights now that mount with a single bolt, they should transfer to whatever bumper you end up getting.
