Alright now that Im done work I can start this thread lol.
All of the parts I have for the jeep have been purchased off of craigslist, or flea markets/swap meets.
1990 Cherokee Laredo as purchased from the original owners. Fresh paint and super clean! No rust except for the pass rocker. Had some cooling system issues according to the seller and a knock in the motor. I picke it up for $600

Well it definatly had a cooling system problem, the headgasket must have been no exsistant and it smoked out every intersection. Soooo I was on the hunt for a motor as I didnt not want to do a head gasket on one knocking as badly as that one, while looking I did the little things I could. Replaced the pass wheel bearing, painted the chrome trim and faded flares, and replaced the fog lights because there was nothing but piles of rust under the covers.

Found a few motors and one that I had my eye on got sold so while I was searching I came accross another XJ. A 89 Pioneer Lifted 3.5in with coils, aal, short arms, adjustable track bar, 31's, and a good motor so I picked that up off of craigslist for $350 and striped it.

And so the motor swap began. The motor got all new gaskets and rear main seal, I also swapped the intake and exhaust manifold off the original engine. Also replaced the motor mounts. While swapping motors I scored a new or-fab winch bumper off of craigslist for $150

So the install went very well. I would have had it done alot sooner had it not decided to monsoon for like a week straight. Only issues were the trans cooler lines not matching up to the new rad, and the fuel line o-rings being shot and spraying fuel everywhere. I cut the end of the lower trans line off and replaced it with and upper trans line that I got from the junk yard, and I also cut the ends off the fuel lines and hose clamped them to the fuel rail instead of replacing the bad o-rings. As soon as it was finished it went directly into the woods!

STUCK! Highcentered on diffs!

I enjoyed wheeling it stock and even did better than a modded JK on the trails! Buttttttt it needed a lift and I had one laying around so I installed it. 3.5in coils and aal with s-10 bilstine shocks (they were free and they work) the short arms, and track bar and 31in tires. Then again straight into the woods

For the future, repair rocker rust, remove carpet and bedline floors, roof rack, rear bumper maybe with tire carrier, rock sliders, lockers, 33's (still undecded on the rims the stock turbines have really grown on me but so have the steelies) bigger lift and long arms, on board air with hose reel. I would personally like to thank my ex-gf for getting me hooked on jeeps, and for dumping me so I can afford the jeep LOL

Looks good with the lift on it. I would get to that rocker rust ASAP. You saw what mine looked like a year ago, and I'm about to post up a thread with pics of what I repaired last month to keep the driver's seat from falling through the floor. That crap spreads fast....

Looking good man. I wish I didn't have a HOA stopping me from putting in a repair garage and car lift... I'd be doing something similar to you with the 1990 I have.
