I just bought a 2000 xj sport for a new project, but I was wondering about removing the standard eng fan in place of a electric fan.I have a good used electric fan that I could use for this, but I was wondering was their any better mpg with doing this. Also what brand did u use for the thermostat to kick the fan in...
Ive heard over the years that the removal of a mechanical fan will free up between 1-5 hp but its unlikely you will notice any mpg difference . If your trying to get more MPGs just do the basics -Upgrade air intake , exhaust , ignition parts (spark plugs , wires , coil ,distributor) ,tires properly inflated and remove any extra stuff in the vehicle to reduce weight . From what i have read on here stock MPG have been around 18-22 MPGs for these XJs .
