EBC Ultimax Pads

installed some ebc ultimax pads on the jeep last week along with new rotors. brakes did fine the first day and then after that at slower speeds, the pads squeal like crazy. higher speeds they perform great and don't squeal until i get to about ten mph. these just the nature of the pads? or do i need to uninstall and add some disc quiet?

I would give it a little longer and see if it goes away. If they weren't bedded in properly or got glazed from hard stops right out of the box, you could get some squeal? They do say that they have a "special" coating to help with bed in? If it doesn't stop, take them back and get replacements.

My pads are Napa Premium and they always are a little squealy at lower speeds. Was thinking about swapping for a set of the EBC pads.

I have always used the cheepest pads that were for sale. If you have new rotors you shouldn't get much squeek. I'd give it some time to maybe take some factory oil off of them, did you use brake cleaner on the new parts? also did you touch them with greasy or very sweaty hands? could be the cause. maybe give it 50 miles to wear off. if it doesnt id go with this guy ^^^

im gonna drive it tomorrow and do some hard braking to try to break em in more

If you didn't use any brake grease on the caliper bolts and slides, then you're gonna have the squealing issue like that

I have installed brakes before not using anything, without any problems....but, I guess Friday since Im off work, I will just take them back off and make sure I grease up EVERYTHING!

so i took the pads off last night and put some disc quiet on the backside of them. drove them this morning and still squeaking. could it just be the pads? maybe i should go with some regular napa pads or something?

As mentioned, I run the Napa Premium pads, they have squealed a little since day 1. Not horribly, and less when hot, but they are still a bit loud.

I bought some Napa ultra premium pads yesterday and what a difference....I feel the braking isn't as good with the ebc, but not more squealing...I just hate I wanted $60 on those ebc....

the squealing is a result of the material used in the pads. I have ceramic pads and they are a little noisy but my brakes are MUCH better.

My EBC yellow pads squealed for a bit too. I don't hear them at all anymore

ok well, installed the napa pads and my braking is nowhere near as good as with the ebc's on. I called up the place I ordered them from and I told her that they were just way too noisy, but said that I couldn't return them because they are used. I really would like to reinstall the pads, but I am wondering, is there a way, I can maybe sand the pads good enough to remove most of the coating...because I honestly can't stand the squealing noise when driving.

I have Hawk Performance Ceramic pads, they work awesome and the noise was only apparent the first day or so. I used Advance Auto ceramic pads on my mom's '05 Civic and they are much noisier.
