Thanks dude.

Today I started cutting the radius arm mounts off the dana 44. I got tired of using the grinder with a cut off wheel so me and my brother went half on a plasma cutter.

Looks great. What upgrades did you do to the 9"? How hard has it been fabbing the 44? Would you say its comparable to going cv shafts, money wise?

I haven't done anything to the 9"in yet but I have a spool waiting to go in when I re-gear it and im going to eventually get cromolly axle shafts but im more worried about getting this thing running than getting axle shafts. The 44 is just like any other axle once you cut the radius arm mounts off, which can easily be done with a grinder and cut off wheel. as long as you don't get the dana 44 with the radius arm mounts cast into the the axle tube its easy.

Cromolly axle shafts are around $600 and ill probably end up with spicer u-joints which are about $20 a piece. So I'll have about $640 into the front axle plus gears. I've never priced CV axles before so im not sure how the compare in price.
