Does anyone know how to take the doors off a 1990 cherokee? If so how?

Read the FAQs. This and lot of other good info are in them.

On the old style hinges like yours I would highly suggest getting a cheap air hammer (mine was $15 at harbor freight) to hammer the bottoms of the hinges off after you cut them. My first door that I did by hand took about a half hour, the other 3 took about 3 seconds with the air hammer to knock the bottoms of the hinges out.
For the driver's side if you can't lift the doors off get yourself something to set a bottle jack on and jack them off ( ) that way. Just a couple pumps on the jack and they should pop right off. Hinges that have sat together for 20+ years might be a bit hard to pull of by hand.
As for putting them back on, make your life easier and drill the hinges out one size bigger and grease the hinge pins. They were hard as hell on mine to take on and off. I did what I just suggested and now they come on and off as fast as I can pick them up.
For the passengers side doors make sure someone is hold them or prop them up on something as the hinge pins are in from the bottom so once you have them out the doors can just fall right off.

On an unrelated note, go into your profile via the control panel and fill in your Jeep info as completely as you can. It'll get your questions answered a lot faster.
For the model option you have an XJ Cherokee, not a Full Size. If you need help filling your info this thread contains all the stock info you need: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/c...k-specs-26256/

Also use the forum search there has been 3or4 threads on this topic this year alone. So they are not just old and out dated but new and up to date. With a few new ideas. Good luck buddy. Happy Jeeping.

open doors, reverse into a wall or pole at speed....
or, just cut the bottom of the hinges on the doors off.

Great ****ing advice.
Too bad it wont work for a 96 and older cherokee.
OP, Cut the bottom of the hinge off. I'll snap some pics of my set up tomorrow.
Heres a decent write up. And what I used for mine.

Yes it will. You can remove just the pins on the old style hinges, you just have to chisel off the top and bottoms of the pins then get them out with a punch. You could do that, drill the holes out to 1/4" and use 1/4" quick pins.

cutting the hinges and re-using the factory pins is the best way to make sure your doors still open and shut like factory

As long as the hinges stay in place where they were bolted on it won't matter unless you drill the holes out at an angle, and even then you'd have to really over do it.
You could remove the pins without cutting the bottom portion of the hinge off. It would ensure a better seal when they go back on than cutting on side off, but it would also be more difficult to get in place obviously.

I chose the second option on this one. And it isnt at all hard to get on and off. But cutting them would be easier! No right or wrong way to do it but there are options. I used 3/8" hardened hitch pins for mine.
