Glad you're ok. Hope he is.

I take it it was his fault? Hopefully you get $ to fix your XJ or get a new one if they total it out.

It's definitely going to be totalled since the frame is bent it's just a matter of how much they pay you out. To be honest I'd buy a new one. It's a lot of work, and Nothing against yours, but when my WJ was hit they said it was close to totalled but since the frame was bent it would never hold up in an accident again and it would never be quite right. For me the safety factor of getting a new vehicle that was structurally sound was what made me decide to get rid of it.

No. But hurt enough he'll pay more attention next time... if his brakes went out, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. It's an old bike.

It depends on how badly, ie we won't know until we see pics.

For example my first ZJ was obviously totalled as soon as I looked at it:

Yeah hurt but not dead. For his sake hope the brakes went out. But just described in the accident sounds pretty bad I bet he would have some kind of neck injury.

His head was what broke the window. I had to go around, and when I looked down the road to see what was going on I saw S8NNG8 sitting there in a sea of EMTs and cops. So I naturally investigated. Turns out the dude broke the back window... With his head. Facial lacerations, head, neck and back injury suspected, and C-Spine precautions were taken. He was lucky to be alive. Makin' a hell of a ruckus layin there on the ground too. Pretty sad, really. About the Jeep and him...

Thank you for your concern. I'd have been in on the conversation this morning but I needed the sleep. Now, I'm off to see the wizard...

Here"s the damage. It doesn't look that bad, but the pain is in the details.

forumrunner_20130419_170852.jpg

This is where the hitch mount bent the unibody rails downward.

Here's the kink in the body.

The bumper took it well, and the diamond plate can easily be transfered to another bumper

This is what boggled the cops. Normally the fiberglass hatch would have caved in, but my speaker box kept that from happening.

So you know, I had the pics lined up to each explanation. I guess this is just another sign of ****ing ignorance about the world in this day and age!

Rear frame stiffners then plate the unibody rails.
