Dear Jeep,

Can you please explain the purpose between using torx screws in the most arbitrary places?

Are you trying to prevent anyone from removing that screw? It takes a mere 10 seconds to remove it with a torx driver. There is absolutely no reason why my project should be halted because you decided to randomly use torx screws in one area, while an area right next to it has regularly screws.

Also, what was the purpose of using both metric and US bolt sizes throughout the vehicle?

That one is beyond me as well.

Post more of your dear Jeep ponders.

Yeah, I took my seat out the other day. 3 13mm bolts, one 11/16ths nut... I mean come on.. SAE and Metric on the same component! It is true what they say I guess about how jeep took a box of random parts from other vehicles and made our jeeps.

All I can say is welcome to a globalized world haha...if you're a true right-winger you will sense my sarcasm

TIP: Make sure you buy a 18mm deep socket...it's very common and not included in most socket sets FWIW

Well...The Cherokee name is back in production for 2010 (according to Petersen's 4 Wheel & Offroad). Unfortanetly....read on

Dear Jeep (Chrysler for that matter),

Thank you for not only killing the Cherokee from production after years of exceedingly well sales, but also for bringing the Cherokee back into production in the form of a ____________ (Insert insult here)!
According to what I have read the New Jeep "Cherokee" will not only share a platform with the Dodge Durango, but will have an independent 4 wheel suspension. Why? It goes against all that the Cherokee has come to be.
I know that todays people want a more road worthy, smoother ride. I know you have to produce what the public would buy. I am not saying dont build this new SUV. I am just saying dont slap the Cherokee in the face by putting its name on this turd.
Dear Jeep...Thanks for killing JEEP

haha I understand what you mean, but whats the 18mm for? I really need deep sockets too, I'm tired out always having to use the crescent wrench and waste like 5 minutes per bolt. Especially when they're like 2" long and you only have like 6" range of motion.

lol I was just remembering that since I took my seat out the other day.

One can only wonder why the heck they decided to make 1 bolt come up from the floor while all the other ones go into the floor.

I feel bad for the few engineers who are actually trying to produce well designed stout vehicles but constantly get undercut by marketing and focus groups.

It is almost 3/4th, but it isn't.

I would also pick up a 21 mm deep socket also and a 12 pt. 13 mm socket.

21 is for the lca's and front leaf spring bolt.
13 is for the wheel bearing hub. I had the misfortune of thinking I could use a 6 pt. the first time.

But that was only an excuse for buying a welder.

Dear American Motors.....Chrysler....Mercedes Benz.....Fiat

Sad to think the vehicle that helped us kick *** in WWII has been owned by two of our enemies. I guess Fiat needs to sell out to Honda in a couple of years and complete the trifecta.
