Cleaning the Engine Bay

Hey guys.

I just bought an 87 Cherokee Larado and the engine bay is filthy. Can I just cover up the intake, spray it down with Simple Green, and power wash it off like I do with my Wrangler?

Also, it has that layer of foam feeling stuff on the underside of the hood (for heat reduction?) which is also filthy and falling apart, can I rip that off?

You can rip off the foam pad, as mine didnt come with it stock.

As for the engine bay, do not get any water on the Thrttle Position Sensor (sensor closest to the drivers side on the throttle body) and cover the distributor. Concentrate on cleaning the engine block, and dont get too crazy with the water near any electrical connections, the relay-center, etc.

Purple Power works very good. You can pick it up at any Advance. I use it on my CJ & XJ and it works like a champ.
