Clean 88 MJ Pricing???

What is an acceptable price for this MJ? I have a 92YJ D44s D300 36s to wheel and I am thinking about buying this one as a daily driver and keeping it stock. I have torn my buddies XJ apart plenty enough to know what is mechanically sound, so working on this thing (hopefully I dont need to) would be a snap.
I have no idea how much this thing is worth and the book value for excellent condition is $2100. The guy is asking $3500. I am new to this forum so any help would be great.
88 Pioneer
4.0 Auto
4x4
Short Bed
AC leaks dry within a couple days
Chain is stretched in the x-case so no 4wd right now until the chain is replaced
New front unit bearings, bushing, and brakes
No rust
250,000+ miles
Edit: The fuel gauge doesnt work and the rear bumper probably needs to be replace due to dents.

I don't know about $3,500 but that thing is CLEAN.
I would have to say if you paid $3,000 or more you got taken. 250K miles + x-case whoas = $2,500 IMO.

The fuel gauge is not working either. The guy said that the fuel pump and sending unit was recently replaced so I can only assume the gauge itself went out. Where is the best place for MJ parts and would I be better off trying to find one in the junk yard?

I would go honestly only buy that for 2k MAX, 1.5k is reasonable. It has a lot wrong with it and is going to take some time and $$$ to fix. I wouldn't buy a jeep for a DD though. The gas mileage is horrible.

I am DDing my YJ on 36s right now so this would be an increase in fuel economy.
I have read anywhere from 14-19 mpg for a truck like this. Is that realistic?

you could easily get that kind of MPG out of it.

i dunno about you guys but i think that they must have done something wrong with the 4wd seeing as they used or abused it enough to stretch a chain. i've never hear of that before!!!

I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else, 2k tops. I rarely pay blue book value for a car, but then again I havent bought very many

I would'nt take their word on the tcase issue, IMO you should assume the worst and factor in having enough cash left over to get one from a boneyard. Better safe than sorry...

As for the fuel gauge you'll probably want to upgrade to a cluster that has a tach and all the goodies on it anyways
