Cherokee with soft doors?

does anyone do this?
Summer is coming up and I am thinking of getting a cherokee, wondering how hard it is to remove/replace the doors on a 1998 xj sport. and if there are any soft doors available for it in case of summer showers

Removable doors are easy. I have seen one guy on here with soft doors but they were custom.

97+ doors are a bit more difficult to put on and remove, but it's not rocket science. Do a search for going doorless. As for soft doors. They will look like crap, just roll doorless or do some tube half doors.

A buddy of mine made some tube doors for his 99' XJ, they are square tube instead of regular old round, follow the XJ's body lines a lot better IMO, try to get pics soon!

Hurry up and get pics of that. I've never thought of using square tube. I always assumed it had to be round.

I you really want soft doors just for wind and rain protection, then maybe PVC pipe will work. For those of us not doing rocks, the tube doors may be overkill. What about fabbing something up with PVC, painting them, then covering them with some canvas and clear vinyl? Cheap, lightweight, easy to fab. No need for welding and grinding. I am gathering parts needed to go doorless. So I may be looking into this.

What do you think?

That doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. The only problem i could think of is if you want to rest your arm on it the PVC might bend.
