Can't get the oil fill cap off.

I know. This is ridiculous, but I can't get the cap off to add oil. It just keeps snapping when i turn it. ( Yes. I am turning it to the left.) I'd appreciate any help.

OK. I probably posted this to the wrong place, but could still use some advice.

Buy a new cap. Pry off the top cover of the stuck oil fill cap. Drop a large coin that will span from one side to the other, into the bottom part of the cap that will be still be stuck in the valve cover. Twist the coin with a pliers.

.

Yeah. I'm a bonehead. I just pushed down as hard as I could and it came off. Thanks for the help though.

I like your Ronald Reagan quote.

A bit late but I have the same problem with mine. I've found that it only does it when the engine is hot. If I let the engine cool down, the cap will come right off. Some day I'll buy a new cap but for now, my simple but elegant solution is to just do my oil changes with a cold engine. Fortunately it doesn't burn oil so I rarely have to pull the cap off between changes.
