I looked at my doors today because I want to go doorless this summer and come to find out that I have pre-97 hinges on a 97. It makes me super excited but is this common?

I did the connectors (thanks ericsXJ) on the back doors and was going to get those bigass connectors for the fronts, but never bought em. Doesn't even look like the door will close?
Oh and this is why you don't want to run a setup that sags. I originally had 5/16" bolts for door pins and the doors sagged over time. I guess the bushings wore out on the body side. A few months of slamming the door shut resulted in the latch in the door ripping the sheet metal. Fixed it with a plate that I screwed onto the door, but it was a huge pain.

Whats a good way to get some mirrors in there? i was thinking a L shaped little metal bar with a wing nut on the bottom in the door hinge. Then just tack weld a little mirror or find a way to mount on the bar. Small easily removable..

I was thinking of something like that. Or when I make my half doors, get some more factory mirrors out of the JY and mount to it.

anyways, mirrors, i found this seems to work pretty well.
It an old Ford van mirror, can be bought at autozone for like 10$, comes with the brackets and all. The upper part of the mount is held in the top door hinge with one of the quick release pins, the bottom is attached to the lower hinge with a bit of SS 3/8in threaded rod and a wing nut, the front support is a magnet with a hook on the front fender attached to a small aluminum turn buckle attached to the mirror bracket. Whole setup was ~20$.
It holds up well to highway speeds and when off road it folds in flush with the body. like say you brush a tree with it, the magnet pops off the fender and the whole thing folds into the cabin. It just doesnt work that way if you brush the tree while going backwards.
Also it doesn't work on the passenger side, you cant see the mirror from the drivers seat, its still attaches the same.

I'll get pics tomorrow but I have a pretty weird set up mine, I was messing with a buddy and folded the mirrors up on his 96 blazer and when he was folding the passenger one back it broke off so I broke it a little more and it just happened to wedge on to the door henge and stay. I was leaving one day and I knew I going to do some highway driving and didn't want it to fall off so I grabbed a drill and drilled a hole in to it which allowed me to drop in a screw sideways in to the top if the henge it's not going anywhere looks pretty clean. It didn't cost me a penny and I'm sure it could be done with just about any power mirror.(pics to follow)
