Reminds me of the Michelin Tweel from a few years ago. Sweet idea but expensive as all hell and not very effiecient or economical. They heat up at high speeds and break down faster. Michelin was looking into making them for slow-speed light industrial applications. Probably perfect for a Humvee that tops at 55mph and drives offroad in dirt and sand alot.

I hadn't seen that Tweel before. Did those ever make it onto off-road vehicles or did they stick with industrial machines?

just so you know the humvee does not top out at 55mph

They also said it costs the same as current units and the expected delivery is in 2011 for the military.

2000 XJ 4" 33's... TJ on 1 tons and 40's after Afghanistan!

I've never drove one, just heard stories from guys coming back home and having to readjust to cars that could go faster. Thanks for the correction.
