Yup. Uncle has one in a ff 60 in a 78 ford. What would you suggest? What is as strong as a Detroit?

A detroit is strong, don't get me wrong. But, they are way unpredictable and IMO, an overpriced lunch box locker. I would honestly run a lunchbox personally. For Detroit money, you could run an Ox or ARB locker.

I might consider a Yukon zip locker. Not a fan of the ox locker or arb.

Decided to wait till winter to really get into the 44/60. I would rather buy once and cry once.
However I have tail light boxes, mini boat sides, stiffeners and rear bumper coming up.

Why don't you like the ARB? I ran one in my dirty thirty and it always worked well, even when the pinion shredded two teeth off and sent metal through the whole diff. Only problem I ever had was a crushed plastic line, but that was because of my ****ty routing. As far as a lunchbox vs a Detroit, I say Detroit all the way. They have very similar handling characteristics, and cost about the same, but the Detroit is far stronger than any stock carrier will ever be.

If you want strength and simplicity on a budget, nothing beats a spool.

I just like the thought of not using the lock outs. Getting out and unlocking one side just to turn is annoying. Plus 100$ for new carrier and 150 for some warn lock outs.

I don't like arb because they are $$$$$$. I don't have any problem with the product they are just stupid expensive.
