Brian's '01 XJ

Picked this up a few days ago.

I paid scrap price for it ($350.00).

The exhaust was missing and it needed a map sensor. Also needs tires.

LOL, and stand in line if you are wanting to offer me my money back

btw, is this a BB?

Welcome to the forum Brian. I don't think you can go wrong at that price.
The coil spacer in your picture does indeed fall into the category of budget boost. What's lifting the rear to match?

Looks like 2" pucks up front and very large shackles out back.

Looks like a solid rig though, anything that runs and drives for $350 is a deal haha.

I haven't looked close at the rear. The leafs seem almost flat but I really haven't paid enough attention. There are other issues that are more pressing I have been trying to focus on. Dang work interfering with playing with my new ride.

Correct. That is 2" pucks and longer shackles.

Well, I bought an exhaust system off an XJ someone was parting out. Mine had no cat or muffler. Now to install it ...

Also got a CB put in. good times.

Got an exhaust system installed A friend gave me a set of 33s (only about 25% tread, but free).

Now to figure out why it won't run smooth. One of the O2 sensors has spliced and extended wiring with various mixed up wire colors on the plug - not the same as the on the harness, not sure it is wired properly. I found a diagram so maybe that should help there.

Also picked up a "new" throttle body and some sensors at a pull your part lot.

Wish me luck.

Got the "new" throttle body and sensors installed. Also installed new spark plugs. Runs a lot better.

Still has a slight miss while at idle. A lot more noticeable while driving. Tried rewiring the mixed up/spliced wires to the front downstream O2 sensor; I think it's still wrong. Only had a small amount of time to work on it after work today before I had to give up. Maybe tomorrow will bring better luck.

I did score a free set of lift arms for the rear gate. The current ones are replacements. They hold things up but are too short.

Got rid of the 235 racing slicks and put on some old 31s I had.

Also, I ordered a Spartan locker for the front.

Looking good, any plans to lift it more or replace the rear leaf springs?

Maybe later on the lift or springs. I have a front locker ordered. Next is a winch bumper, then a rear bumper. After that, I'm thinking wheels that will let me run 33s. I tried 33s with the wheels I have but they rub the leafs. Need to push thing out a bit. The 33s also confirmed that the D/S shock is definitely shot. That side sagged such that the 33 barely cleared, the P/S sat much better. So, yeah, throw some shocks on the list somewhere in there. $$$$$$$ is the only thing slowing me down.

Oh, also, the timing belt broke yesterday on my Tackick. So that needs $$ too.

Shocks have nothing to do with anything sagging. If the D/S is lower it's probably a worn out spring.

Maybe sag is the partially a bad description. The D/S did seem to sit lower compared to the P/S when the 33s were on. With any size tire, I have noticed that when I hit a bump I hear a "thump" that reminds me of noises previously heard in cars with struts and no leafs, when the struts were bad.

With the 33s, when I turned right, body roll (I don't have a front sway bar) would cause the D/S to scrub at the back side of the wheel opening. The tire would also scrub on bad bumps in the road.

Not trying to say leafs aren't bad, but from prior experience I'm sure the shocks are bad. LOL, with my luck, probably both.

That's 50x nicer that the ****pile I just spent $1400 on. I'm $400 in and it's still not road worthy
