Brand spanking new!

I just bought my first Jeep today and I am over the moon about it. It is a 1998 Grand Cherokee. It may be used but it's brand new to me!
I could gush and gush but I don't want to bore anyone. I do have a few things to figure out though and I would love a bit of help.
I cant seem to set the time on the message center. I can get the date but the time evades me.
Second I cant seem to get it out of 4x4. I put it in park and moved the lever to N, but there is an awful noise like when you grind the gears in a manual transmission. I don't want to drive around in 4x4 and waste the gas. I am goo g to try and put it in 4x4 lo and see what happens.

All suggestions are helpful!

Not being mean or picky, I'm sure allot of guys on here might be able to help you. But you have a ZJ. Not a XJ. The ZJ grand Cherokee sub forum on here will probably be able to help you better.

Does it have a NP242 or NP231? If you have the part time NP242 try putting it in part time.
