Brand new Jeep

Just picked up this Jeep for 4k. Looks really clean, minus some little interior rips and nicks and scratches but besides that looks awesome. Only 79,500 Miles.

Thinking about getting new wheels, don't like the one that came w/ and on currently 31x10.5x15 A/T so about 3 inches of lift.

Anything else i should check into or suggestions, im new to Jeep's.

is there any service records with it? Ask the previous owner if he/she has had any troubles with the head or cooling probs. they are somewhat "notorious" for overheating and cracking the head. Not all, but some do it. It was a new design in 2000 and they didn't quite have all the bugs worked out. Oh, and look into the Black Rock steel wheels to replace those "Bling" rims. The Black Rocks offer some black steel wheels that are NOT soft 8s. any wheel will be a step up besides soft 8s. god i hate those damn things

You can lay down the spare in the back, or mount it on the roof for cheap. If you want it on the back, that can get expensive. Detours makes a really nice setup for the lowest price you will find. XJ TailBone

I have heard a 30 will fit, 31's if you modify/remove the metal bracket on the floor, and the seat might not latch. But every tire (brand) is alittle different size, so... My 235/75/15's almost touch the seat back, and the speaker on the roof, so I would think it would be really tight for anything much bigger.

As for the roof, you can buy a roof mounting bracket (forgot who sells them) or you can get a roof rack, with either a bracket in it or well placed ratchet straps. Or you can make a roof bracket. Like mine:

The middle thing is is a threaded rod, and the stock hemisphere and wing nut setup threads on it.
