My buddy just got done building his TJ on 35's, stretch the rear, swapped in an 8.25, but left the LP30 because we couldn't find a real reason worth fixing the track bar bracket on an HP30 housing he had to swap in. Needless to say, he geared the LP30 4.88 and locked it.
X2 I woulda still bought my Aussie if I had an LP30, I dont see a big benefit to swap for an HP30 just to lock it. Realisticly if your gonna grenade anything in either 30 its gonna be those damn spider gears.

Plus its not like buying a locker is gonna set you back any, same thing no matter HP or LP, right?

Also, holy hell the 8.25 pinion takes a beating lol.

I'd do a hp swap. But that is after I grenaded to lp. I really only see it as a 15 percent increase. I have one factory and it has not popped but I haven't pushed it to hard.
I'm saying Aussie lock the front the. Call it a day.

On this topic, you get much snow up there DNFJ? If so you wont wanna run an auto locker up front if thats your DD. Ive heard they are real sketch in snow on road, havent got any snow to test that firsthand yet. Its not my primary DD though so I was willing to take the tradeoff, selectable locker is a little too pricey for me.

Depends on how the winter is, last year was pretty mild except for a storm or two that dumped 8" in like an hour. Because of Lake Erie being relatively close and the appalachians to our east, they tend to slow down storms and end up pounding us sometimes.

Given that the last two winters have been relatively mild, I wouldn't be surprised if this one sucked.

Personally I don't really care for autolockers in general, I like the thought of being able to control exactly how my wheels are going to react in a given situation.

Also absolutely staying with the 8.25 for the forseeable future. They're awesome.

It was more so I could keep track of what I've actually done without having to re-read everything.

So, mod ideas that aren't lockers?

Could finally do the hack and tap so you can lose the TC drop.

For a DD, I can understand that reasoning. Though I'm not sure if the full time option likes lockers....
