Yes because I obviously need to put lockers in my LP30.

Besides the fact that it is basically winter now.

I have been thinking the same thing w/ my LP30.

Lock and gear it?

Swap it w/ a locked and geared HP30?

Thing is - I certainly wouldn't be first locked and geared LP30, so I almost lean towards going that route.

I was more or less getting at the fact that it is now winter around here, meaning mods that can be done in a weekend at worst. Though swapping everything shouldn't take more than that, not a fiber in my being wants to lay on 20* gravel for 4 hours to swap in a HP30.

I honestly don't see the benefits of swapping an HP30 in.

The weather has turned here too. I hear ya on wrenchin in the cold. Only advantage is you can't feel your knuckles when you bloody them.

Well, other than the leetle bit of clearance gained on the shaft, and I guess a better driveline angle...............in the end it would be a lot of work "just because" as it stands right now.

Oh BTW..........here ya go:

Yes because I have unlimited funds and time if something happens to my front axle.

What do you really gain? Some say 30% strength is gained because of the reverse rotation of an HP, I call BS on that. The only other gain is the pinion is a slight bit higher, but again, who cares? Look at your 8.25 pinion. It eats a lot more rocks than your 30 pinion will see. At least mine does...

My buddy just got done building his TJ on 35's, stretch the rear, swapped in an 8.25, but left the LP30 because we couldn't find a real reason worth fixing the track bar bracket on an HP30 housing he had to swap in. Needless to say, he geared the LP30 4.88 and locked it.
